EYES
Don’t forget to schedule an annual eye exam. Recently I went for my annual eye exams and had a bit of a scare. When I was asked, what was the smallest line I could read clearly… there were none. I could not clearly see letters that look to be 2 inches tall. I know diabetics are prone to having blurred or sudden changes in vision and cataracts are also a possibility, but at that moment I couldn’t begin to understand what was going on.
MENTAL AND PHYSICAL FITNESS
I’ve always been a morning person so it’s easy to get up early to meditate, pray and exercise. While meditation and prayer target my mental health and helps to control stress. Low impact aerobics and yoga lite helps me to get off to a good start physically. Consistency and Balance has helped to keep my blood sugar within the target range and maintained a healthy weight. Being active also helps with my blood pressure, and my cholesterol. When exercising or riding my bike I wear comfortable clothing and protect my feet by making sure I have on cotton socks and proper shoes to exercise in. I also make sure I have something to drink close at hand to help prevent dehydration. Being active is a key part to maintaining a healthy lifestyle and when we truly make the commitment we touch the lives around us.

FEET
Neuropathy or nerve damage is possible when you are diabetic, so I remain diligent in checking my feet every day because I know how important it is that I protect and take care of them.
DENTAL AND ORAL HYGIENE
Diabetics are at a higher risk for gum problems which makes oral hygiene one more important key to maintaining a healthy lifestyle
