Diabetes Support is my Goal

It's Time To Take Diabetes Seriously

Diabetes support is my goal in encouraging others to live a healthy lifestyle.  My question to you is:  Did you check your fasting blood sugar this morning, eat a good breakfast, take your medicine, take time to exercise?  Why not? It’s time to take diabetes seriously.   Have you ever looked into the eyes of someone who has neglected their diabetes?  I want better for you, and for you to want better for yourself.

Hearing success stories about taking control of diabetes is what we have to strive for.   I’ve heard many sad ones about not taking charge, not truly caring about living a healthier lifestyle.  Knowing is one thing, but doing usually equally success.   Any effort we make toward bettering our lives is to the good.  Take time today to commit to you.  Are you ready to become a Diligent Diabetic?

Diabetes Support is my Goal - Setting a Daily Routine

Each morning my routine, or developed habit, consist of three (3) important steps.  Meditation and Prayer, checking my fasting blood sugar level and eating a good breakfast.  By making the commitment to get up earlier I have the time needed to connect spirit, mind and body.  I experience a more positive mindset and know what I need to do to maintain a healthy body

The importance of Checking

My fasting blood sugar levels are usually consistent and within a healthy range.  I check my blood sugar before I lay down at night and keep a snack close by in the case my blood sugar drops during the night. One morning a couple of weeks ago, my fasting blood sugar and it was 127 and I had a headache.  I knew what I needed to do for my diabetes and my body, however, please make sure you contact your doctor and get the required help you need.  Many of you have experienced fasting blood sugar levels much higher, or one that has been extremely low, and probably feel that my levels are nothing compared to others.  I must remind you, diabetes left unchecked will cost us more than we’re willing to pay.

Diabetes Support is My Goal - Form New Habits With a Support Team Member

So, we’ve got knowledge that diabetes support is my goal also, diet and exercise are key components for diabetics to live a healthy lifestyle.   But something Is missing. The doing.  We must do it.  You have to be creative, honest and diligent in our quest for a healthy lifestyle.

Set up a table with a nice tablecloth and flowers. Invite one or two of your support team over for a very simple breakfast. You may try this a couple of times before you are invited over, but the key is for you to try new items in your diet. You may even want to try an afternoon tea with the light dessert. Honey lemon tea is refreshing.

As far as exercising, you have several options. You can invite a support team member along for a walk around the park. If you live close to a Botanical Garden or nature trail, a walk there will give you lots of wildlife and beautiful things to look at.  Don’t forget about riding your bike, walking along the beach, or even take a window-shopping-only-walk in the malls.  Try it and let me know how it goes. Leave a comment or send me an email at comment@thediligentdiabetic.com for an opportunity to be a featured success story, or just to give us something to be proud of.  I would love to hear from you! Our key to success is being diligent.  I hope you will join me in becoming a Diligent Diabetic.
